I'm running SuSE 6.0 Kernel 2.2.7 on a pentium III 500mhz with 128 megs RAM. I have a 128 meg swap file. My question is that sometimes even with even only one terminal running, and no intensive processes running, my hard drive will occasionally thrash for a good three minutes at what appears to be random intervals. If I [ps a] it shows me nothing out of the ordinary.(one bash, one ps a, and one mingetty.) any ideas? is this normal?

Do a ps aux and I bet you see a find being run by nobody. It's likely dealing with your logs. Nick -- --------------------- Nick Zentena SuSE 6.1 Linux 2.2.10 ---------------------
