So, I'm wanting to transcode some DVDs and am getting bored with dvd::rip. I've heard a lot of good things about handbrake, but can't find a binary for openSUSE. Yes, I do do know how to compile from source, but it's my B-day and I'm being lazy (also don't want to try compiling code after a couple of beers). Does anyone know if there is an openSUSE binary for Handbrake? Thanks, James -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Thanks. I'll try compiling it later today. On 2/6/09, Carlos E. R. <robin.listas@telefonica.net> wrote:

Never heard of it before today, but if you grab the .deb from the download site and use alien to convert it to RPM, you can install it with --nodeps after creating a softlink for libbz2.so.1 to libbz2.so.1.0 - it runs, but I haven't tried converting anything with it yet. I wondered if it would build in the build service, but because the author doesn't use the standard make process (he uses something called "jam" instead), it looks more involved to get it in OSB. Have to say, I like the interface, though. I didn't mention, but I'm on openSUSE 11.0. Encoding from a DVD so far seems to be working fine.
