I think I'm a little brain dead. Since I loaded up 7.3 on my laptop, off my 7.3 Pro. cd's, I am unable to fetch(mail) mail. No e-mail resolves, or should I say the mail from any mail list like this, doesn't. Is this a simple config issue or what ? Thanks a bunch, Dee

Need more info. Do you use a dialup service? Can you dialin and connect? If you connect but no resolves, maybe you need to edit your /etc/resolv.conf to add the dns servers of your isp. If you can't connect at all, it's probably a modem setup problem. If you run wvdialconf, does it successfully find a modem? Maybe your laptop has a winmodem? Is it a pcmcia modem? Do you have pcmcia installed?

What errors if any do you get running fetchmail from the comand line? One way to get good debug info on your current setup is to run fethmailconf and press the test option when it comes up. This wil output all the returned info to a window. If that information doesn't clear it up fr you send it to the list and give us a crack at it. If you don't have fetchmailconf installed it is on the 7.3 disks. -- Time is the best teacher. Unfortunately it kills all its students.
This was such an odd issue for me as I run Linux and have for years. The problem with fetchmail was on my Laptop and it's connected wireless to a dedicated IP server. In yast2 I checked dedicated IP for sendmail and my problem was fixed. Thanks though, Dee Allen Carpenter <ozy@landofoz.org> wrote:
