hi steven, many thanks for your email. I will try to answer your questions in order! I think LILO is on a floppy disk - this is how i boot to linux. I am running windows ME :( Hardware: AMD-K6-2 MS-5169 ATX AL9 mainboard EIDE1 master - 8.4 Gb hard drive (windows) slave - 20Gb hard drive (linux) EIDE2 master - DVDrom slave - CD rewriter video - SiS AGP SVGA card 4096 audio - soundblaster live! player 5.1 ( the temperamental nature of the sound card was one reason for trying linux - it has never worked well in windows). Many thanks, Dave. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Steven Hatfield" <ashari@knightswood.net> To: "sunbeams" <sunbeams@0800dial.com> Cc: <suse-linux-e@suse.com> Sent: Sunday, June 03, 2001 8:21 PM Subject: Re: [SLE] new to linux - problems getting starte

Was it the jumper for flashing the BIOS that got loose? Hope these questions are not too difficult, but did he change anything in the actual BIOS? Have you ever been in the BIOS before? You can enter the BIOS and easily get out without saving anything, but it might be intriguing to see what is in there. Matt
