O.K., I know it is late but I just installed SuSE 8.0 on one system and 8.0 on another to evaluate and I can't get either box to talk on the network. The interfaces are configured but I can ping, ssh, or browse the web. What have I missed? Thanks, Robert

You need to send more details, but just guessing.............. You should be able to ping the ip numbers, like ping 192.168.0.1 if you want to use the computer names, you should add them to /etc/hosts. Also if you have the firewall setup, which firewall do you have? You should be using, SuSEfirewall2 not the personalfirewall. You probably need to edit the SuSEfirewall2.rc.config to setup your interfaces. -- use Perl; #powerful programmable prestidigitation
Actually, To start I don't want any firewall but I will be using SuSEfirewall2 and I have copied the configuration from another system I setup so I know that it is good. I am doing as you suggested and pinging numeric addresses not names but nothing is working. Thanks for you help. Robert On Saturday, March 1, 2003, at 02:41 AM, zentara wrote:
