Linux is still in relatively infant stages... and a stable OS that is still in infant.
As much as I love Linux, I'll have to grant that.
Just think what will be developed in the next few months/years. Plug and Play is still maturing, though it has come a long way since the last couple of releases.
Actually, Plug and Play, as a hardware standard, is dead. ISA is dead, so PnP, by nature of association, is dead too. That's not to say that some people don't still need PnP support (ISA devices are still in heavy circulation), but aside from OS-side development for legacy devices, it's dead. I'm going off on a tangent, aren't I? What I really mean to say is that I believe you have misinterprated the original post. He's refering to PCI devices, which are not PnP; PCI devices are handled by the BIOS and the BIOS alone. The best, if not only, way to rectify a problem with IRQ assignment is to relocate the PCI device to another slot, thereby forcing the BIOS to assign a different IRQ on the next boot. -- -=|JP|=- Jon Pennington | Atipa Linux Solutions jpennington@atipa.com | http://www.atipa.com Kansas City, MO, USA | 816-241-2641 x121 -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/

Are you sure, that all bioses would assign a new irq if i just moved the card? I thought, that there were some standard assignments for graphicscards , because my tvcard and both gfxcards were put onto 11. But ok, it's easy to try out... But i cant do it today, since i'm going to visit my parents this weekend. I would really like the solution to my problem be so simple... anyway, i will reply to the list, if this works (and if it doesnt :) ) bye, and have a nice weekend... greets, alex
