RE: [SLE] continuous high load while nothing's happening??
Hi -----Original Message----- From: Arjen Runsink [SMTP:arjen@technologist.com]
Spoke to soon about apmd and kcmlaptop. They are the culprits. they eache raise the usage about .4 to .5 thats not good!
Umm, aren't these things (apmd anyway) supposed to improve battery life? Seems a little counterproductive to increase the load to save batteries, but I suppose it comes down to a balance of cost vs gain. BTW: what is kcmlaptop? I am looking into this, maybe it is possible and effective to lengthen the time between polls (for battery status that is).

This is a KDE program to monitor the battery status on the desktop. Also puts info about the PCMCIA cards and a nice Standby / Suspend menu in KDE .
