I have been reading the ipchains-HOWTO for a while, and I am trying to set up my own firewall. I am trying to deny all packets incoming to my PC at port 139, 515, 901 and 6000. What could I put in the ipchains call as destination? I use a dialup connection. Examples are very appreciated! i am no expert but i think ipchains -A -p tcp --destinationport 139,515,901,6000 should work there is a nice tutorial on ipchains at www.linuxformat.co.uk On Wed, 23 Aug 2000, Tazio Ceri wrote:

I have tried: ipchains -A input -p tcp --destination-port 6000 -j DENY but scanning myself with nmap: nmap pi1-768.tiscalinet.it i see that port 6000 is OPEN, not filtered. I have also tried ipchains -A input -p tcp --destination-port 6000 -i ppp+ -j DENY and this worked. Thank you for having pointed the right way. Tazio Rolando Roman wrote:
