Hi all, I introduces an engineer friend of mine to linux (SuSE 8.0 Pro), and he loves it - went bezerk when he saw all the math apps! - except that his ASUS SiS 300/305 16mb AGP card doesn't seem to be working as it should. glxgears gives about 50fps in windowed mode, I didn't have the heart to make it full screen... This machine (Celeron 667mhz, 128mb RAM Gigabyte board with 66mhz fsb and 100mhz memroy bus) runs Quake and Wolfenstein fine in that other OS, so I know the card is powerfull enough. XFree is running on the "sis" driver. I searched the net, and this is what I found: "SiS DRI has never worked until recently until Alan Cox sent a DRM patch which I believe originated at Caldera. Aparently since then SiS DRI works, at least on some SiS hardware." but I haven't been able to get it working. SiS' site doesn't have drivers for the 300/305, only a link to XFree86. SDB doesn't have much on SiS chips either, and nothing specific on this one. Is anybody using this chip successfully with proper 3D? Any ideas on how to get it to work properly?
