[opensuse] cdrecord error on creating VCD
Hi, I'm trying to create a VCD with cdrecord (cdrecord-2.01-25 of the SUSE Linux 10.1 distribution): cdrecord -dev=ATAPI:0,0,0 -v -dao speed=1 cuefile="/data/video.cue" But it failed on several attempts (also using k3b). Note that I get the identical error message even if I use the -dummy option of cdrecord. Maybe someone can help me identifying what the underlying issue is based on the error messages below. --- snip ----- cdrecord: Input/output error. write_g1: scsi sendcmd: no error CDB: 2A 00 FF FF FF 6A 00 00 1B 00 status: 0x2 (CHECK CONDITION) Sense Bytes: 70 00 05 00 00 00 00 0A 00 00 00 00 24 00 00 00 00 00 Sense Key: 0x5 Illegal Request, Segment 0 Sense Code: 0x24 Qual 0x00 (invalid field in cdb) Fru 0x0 Sense flags: Blk 0 (not valid) cmd finished after 0.003s timeout 200s write track pad data: error after 0 bytes BFree: 1605 K BSize: 1605 K Starting new track at sector: 0 Track 01: 0 of 1 MB written.cdrecord: Input/output error. write_g1: scsi sendcmd: no error CDB: 2A 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 1B 00 status: 0x2 (CHECK CONDITION) Sense Bytes: 70 00 05 00 00 00 00 0A 00 00 00 00 24 00 00 00 00 00 Sense Key: 0x5 Illegal Request, Segment 0 Sense Code: 0x24 Qual 0x00 (invalid field in cdb) Fru 0x0 Sense flags: Blk 0 (not valid) cmd finished after 0.002s timeout 200s write track data: error after 0 bytes --- snap ----- Greetings from Stuhr hartmut -- Hartmut Meyer, NTS EMEA Partner Relationship Manager SUSE LINUX GmbH, Maxfeldstr. 5, D-90409 Nuernberg T: +49 421 3064385 - M: +49 179 2279480 F: +49 421 3064387 - hartmut.meyer@novell.com ---------------------------------------------------- SUSE® Linux Enterprise 10 - Your Linux is ready http://www.novell.com/linux

Really? I just checked this and both -dev=ATAPI:0,0,0 and -dev=/dev/hdc find the correct device: atapi: 1 Device type : Removable CD-ROM Version : 0 Response Format: 2 Capabilities : Vendor_info : 'HL-DT-ST' Identifikation : 'RW/DVD GCC-4242N' Revision : '0201' Device seems to be: Generic mmc2 DVD-ROM. I tried (again with -dummy) with -dev=/dev/hdc -> exactly the same error message ... Sending CUE sheet...
