I am not sure where I should start to trackdown the problem. Here are
some facts:
I have setup the dns to resolve ipv6.wiplinger.org.
I can ping this host from my local lan from an xp machine with ping and
ping6 resolving in both cases to IPv6 address.
In order to make sure that I really use IPv6, I set up apache to use
port 226 (22=v & 6)
Apache config file for IPv6 hosts looks like:
#</VirtualHost>
# IPv6 web sites at port 226
NameVirtualHost *:226
# get the server name from the Host: header
UseCanonicalName Off
# this log fomat can be split per-virtual-host based on the first field
LogFormat "%V %h %l %u %t \"%r\" %>s %b \"%{Referer}i\"
\"%{User-Agent}i\"" vcombined
CustomLog /var/log/virtual-6_access_log vcombined
# include the server name in the filenames used to satisfy requests
VirtualDocumentRoot /usr/local/httpd/virtual-IPv6/ipv6.wiplinger.org/htdocs
VirtualScriptAlias
/usr/local/httpd/virtual-IPv6/ipv6.wiplinger.org/cgi-bin
ErrorDocument 404 http://www.elmit.com/Sorry.html
</VirtualHost>
I get at the XP machine in Internet Explorer as well as in Mozilla a
host unknown !!! Although I can ping the host!
iptables -L |grep 226 shows
TCPACCEPT tcp -- anywhere anywhere tcp dpt:226
M$ writes, that win xp sp1 includes wininet.dll which resolves first
IPv6, ....
When I go with XP to any __IPv6__enabled__ web site, I get a message
that I am connected via IPv4. Tracert6 to this site shows successfully
though.
Any hints?
bye
