Hello, I'm using 7.2 (SuSE of course) and, while I've managed to get a local connection to either an HP LaserJet II (it just won't die - and I have two of them - it just keeps working) or a Canon BJC-6000, I can't get a local connection to a Xerox DocuPrint M750 color inkjet. I know the Xerox printer works as I've connected it to a windoze system, and it works from that, using the same parallel cable. The same parallel cable had also connected the 7.2 system to my laserjet. By this I eliminate the cable and the printer port as being the problem. I've set up all the printers under CUPS from YaST 2. One thing I noticed ... when installing the drivers for the HP LJ2 and the Canon, I was given a choice of printer drivers for those printers. While CUPS did detect the Xerox printer, it didn't display a choice of printer drivers for it. Also, when I continue in the CUPS printer installation process, and after pressing the test button to test the printer connection, etc., the printer does absolutely nothing. It doesn't blink, it doesn't move the inkjets, it does nothing to show it's receiving data from the printer. I have two other questions, one about localhost and setting that up (I've looked up the info in the manuals or books I have on Linux - the info isn't as easy to find as I thought it would be) and why my SuSE 7.2 system is having a tough time as a SAMBA client. It detects my SuSE 7.0 server no problem. But it doesn't see the windoze 98 or the OS/2 system. When the system had been setup under SuSE 7.1, it saw the samba systems, but had a difficult time on boot setting up the NFS imports. That last issue under 7.2 isn't an issue anymore. If you have any questions, or need more info on my system, don't hesitate to ask. Mark
