I have a Canon bjc4300 which has always worked fine with SuSE. With 8.2 though it prints evrything from whatever app and including the printer test page from yast about one and a half time too big. I'm using the out of the box set up from a fresh install of 8.2. Is there an isue with CUPS and 8.2 and this printer ? Mike

Mike Hi, had the same problem with Canon 3000, reducing resolution to 360dpi and using the bjc600 driver solved this, in your case just use a different driver and see what happens. HTH, Herman

Herman Thanks. After a few hours trying, installing and reinstalling CUPS and changing any values I thought might help I fixed the problem. I'm not sure how but it does now work so I'm not going to fiddle with it aany more. Mike

I have a canon 4000, and I use the bjc600 driver with cups (suse 8.1). Once I got a page printed at double size, but it was just a wrong resolution setting. But I have a different problem: photographs print very bad: very weak ink, high contrast, strange colours. Text is perfect, photographs print horrible. Using the gimp driver I get somewhat better result, but way slower. What results are you getting? -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson

What results are you getting? Hi, using bjc600 driver and gimp driver for monochrome and/or grayscale only, for really top quality color printing I'm using the Turbo Print driver from Germany, well worth the money. HTH, Herman

Mm, yes, grayscale printing is perfect with both drivers.

Mmm... for that I just boot into windoze, and print from there the pdf created in linux - I could even rig another PC for the task, either using win 95 or suse 7.3, that prints correctly. -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson
