[opensuse] Problems configuring Nvidia MCP51 soundcard
I installed openSUSE 10.3 on my gfriends laptop and I have problems getting the Nvidia MCP51 soundcard properly configured (it ran fine in PCLinuxOS and Gentoo). Audio playback 'hangs' causing a loop of irritating noise. I have tried reinstalling the card through yast2. I als tried configuring the card with alsaconf. Both to no avail. According to lspci have a Nvidia MCP51 soundcard, yast2 calls it a 'V6133CL' How can I can solve this? Thanks in advance! I have an Nvidia MCP51 chipset but it uses the HDA driver but I didn't
have any issues with OpenSUSE 10.3, it detected the card and it plays
audio no problem.

I think the problem is with Nvidia MCP51 High Definition. That is the one I have: # lspci 00:10.1 Audio device: nVidia Corporation MCP51 High Definition Audio (rev a2) On Mon, 2007-10-08 at 12:47 -0400, Frank Hale wrote:

I think the problem is with Nvidia MCP51 High Definition. That is the one I have:
I have the same chipset and use the same driver and I've played music through VLC, Totem and Banshee and I have had no issues yet. Nvidia MCP51 -> High Definition Audio -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

There could be an issue it's just that i haven't been able to recreate
it. How long after you play a song does the problem occur?

I can't play anything at all. As soon as I enable my soundcard it hangs in a endless loop of a kdewarning sound. On Mon, 2007-10-08 at 18:11 -0400, Frank Hale wrote:
