is there a way (or another s/w) that can show me the current user? like what i do when using Radmin (www.radmin.com) and Symantec PcAnywhere.

You can use x11vnc. I use it to log into my existing session from a remote computer. The host runs x11vnc, and the remote jsut has to run the vnc viewer app... I ssh tunnel to it for added security etc... works great.
