I've tried in vain to get a Radeon 7200 and Radeon 32MB DDR video boards working on my system. According to the SuSE support database, there's an issue with AMD Irongate chipsets, like the 761 on my motherboard. Any recommendations for a video card? I'm looking for something reasonably priced that will install easily and work with the AMD 761 chipset. Oh, and I've got a Radeon 32MB DDR board for sale cheap... /jw -- inet: john@wilkes.com | addr: 321 High School Rd. John, I can't speak to the AMD 761 chipset issue, but generally speaking, I would suggest that you take a look at last year's nvidia-based cards, perhaps something like an Asus 7700 or 8XXX cards. (I say last year's since personally I always like to buy things one generation removed from brand new cutting edge since I think it gives you the best performance for your dollar). IMHO, nvidia has done a very good of supporting Linux by constantly releasing updated and improved drivers. I have a two year old 32 MB Elsa Gladic Geforce2 MX nvidia card and have absolutely no problems with it working great in Linux. I get great framerates in games (90-100 fps) and there is a TON of documentation out there on how to configure and build your nvidia drivers. (Alternatively, consider switching mainboards to avoid the AMD chipset issue. Might be cheaper than buying a new video card. I'm using an EPOX 8KHa+ DDR board and it works great). Too bad you can't use the 7200. It's best for home theater. 8500 had gamma problems, but I think that's fixed. If you ever intend to do home theater, NVidia is blurry and unstable. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.6 (GNU/Linux) Comment: For info see http://www.gnupg.org iEYEARECAAYFAjz9N34ACgkQnQ18+PFcZJuAvwCeKEJmtdhEUzL+95YnlemAwb7K uL0Ani+Nleo60QWK9O4szsKR5DNR7TkX =8jin -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
