Can't print with LPRng
I set up my SuSE 8.1 system with CUPS printing. I have a local printer and a network printer (with the network printer as the default.) I then follow the procedures through YaST to change to the LPRng package. When I try to print a file to my local printer (called 'black' here), I get the following message: Status information: sending job 'root@megpc1+694' to black@localhost connecting to 'localhost', attempt 1 connected to 'localhost' requesting printer black@localhost job 'root@localhost+694' transfer to black@localhost failed error 'ERROR TRANSFERRING DATA' sending str '^Bblack' to black@localhost The /log/messages file shows information such as the following. Jan 29 15:06:06 megpc1 kernel: lp0: using parport0 (polling). Jan 29 15:06:07 megpc1 lpd[2677]: connection refused from unknown I was actually able to make this changeover successfully on my home computer (similar computer, but different printer). So there must be some configuration setting that is different, but I can't find it. Please help. Thank you. Joe Comfort

Check the security setting in your lprng config file. Charles -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.7 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQE+UfCo3epPyyKbwPYRAs+YAJwOS1Z5VDuIvkXnwPGykod3x6dkigCfYsgp 0/uskEgLc1iKZCyN2HfRowU= =dLVd -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
