[opensuse] cpu stuck?

[kworker/0:1:13446] And finally, root partition became "RO". and no chance of remounting it. Tried to get the machine down gracefully, but it seems that xend is affected also, as the "xm" command didnot return something readable. Only option was the hard "single sign off" (aka pulling the power-plug) Any sound suggestions anyone can give before i try to switch it on again? what matters is what comes *after* this, see dmesg.

It is a kernel bug, since 12.2 is going to reach end of life on Jan 15th 2014 I doubt filling a bug report will be of much help unless you can reproduce with current Kernel:Stable. My suggestion will be to upgrade your kernel from: http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Kernel:/stable/standard/ and see if the problem persists. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Does this server happen to use the "tg3" network interface driver? There is an open bugreport this "soft lockup", but bugzilla is down atm. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (6.2°C) http://www.hostsuisse.com/ - dedicated server rental in Switzerland. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Additional info (for other thread listeners) On other lists (specifically those from the african distro) this occurs far more often. There it was a known kernel-issue. Just started the machine up again, and noticed a waiting xen-patch. As SUSE is one of the few decent distro's still offering this superior hypervisor out-of-the-box, it is probably not related.... The machine is now running non-stop for a day again, and hosting several sles11sp3 hosts, on one of them i'm typing this reply After i finished my ejbca-test-run, i'll check bugzilla, Thanks. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

There are a few open tickets on "soft lockup", but this is the one I opened a while ago: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=768714 -- Per Jessen, Zürich (2.7°C) http://www.hostsuisse.com/ - dedicated server rental in Switzerland. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Hi Per, inetresting reading ;( Yes it certainly looks the same, But in contrast to your issue, i can not re-produce it at will. And in my case, it happened in the middle of the night, with only an single dom-U (xp) active. So the load was neglectible. If i had not seen that many "simular situations" i would contribute it to hardware that might show signs of old age. If it happens again, i 'll have a serious discussion between me, myself and i, what to do. As 12.2 is about End-Of-Life, i might switch to sles11sp3....
