Good news, at least for those of us who've steered clear of 10.1 so far. Is there a SUSE.com or OpenSUSE.com page that describes details of this release? Searching the English OpenSUSE Wiki for "remastered" turned up only one, unrelated hit. If there's not yet any on-line resource describing this release, could you tell me which kernel it includes?

Read again my announcement: This release combines the 10.1 GM and all online updates that we have released for 10.1 so far. So, it's the combination of packages from the update server with the original media. It includes the latest kernel from our update server for 10.1 which is a 2.6.16 kernel, Andreas -- Andreas Jaeger, aj@suse.de, http://www.suse.de/~aj/ SUSE Linux Products GmbH, Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany GPG fingerprint = 93A3 365E CE47 B889 DF7F FED1 389A 563C C272 A126

Everything is in the update directory available to everybody. It's just the arrangement ;-) The problem is that the ftp directory is considered read-only and libzypp caches it if it's used as installation source. So, if we change it, it will break for you since the local and remote version of metadatas are not in sync, Andreas -- Andreas Jaeger, aj@suse.de, http://www.suse.de/~aj/ SUSE Linux Products GmbH, Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany GPG fingerprint = 93A3 365E CE47 B889 DF7F FED1 389A 563C C272 A126

They could have them already all the time: just enter /pub/suse/update/10.1 as an additional "Addon" source before the installation starts (beneath the primary Addon source /pub/opensuse/distribution/SL-10.1/non-oss-inst-source ). BTW: you guys please obey not to include all the answering list members personally into cc:. It is enough hassle already that our list moderator tends to keep this crazy list configuration, but this shit seems to get topped by far if this cc: race multiplies by innocent user behaviour... Not everyone has a speedy connection. Installing 2 GB of packages and then just pull another gig of kde+ooo updates is just no fun. -`J' -- --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

We are talking about ftp installation. So what. Since 10.1, old packages won't get installed first before the new packages get fetched. They could do that, but it's not really gonna work well. You'd have to manually ignore/resolve some dependencies :( Regards, Christoph --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
