Hi guys, here was my issue at first; I tried connecting with my Compaq X1000 laptop to a wireless router It's a centrino chipset I set up the essid and crypt correctly...got a signal and was connected. The wireless router issued me a ip address, iwconfig confirmed I had an address I tried pinging my router...unreachable, checked route -n and noticed I didn't have a default gw. Added a default gateway hoping that would fix it..NOPE, no luck! Link says 100..ultimate line quality. My router says I'm connected to it..however I can't ping anything!! I pinged my laptop ip to be sure, I got a reply. Went to freenode.org and tried asking around. They thought maybe I needed to upgrade the driver. Downloaded and installed ipw2100 1.0.1, but now it won't load, getting the following error; WARNING: Error inserting ieee80211 (/lib/modules/2.6.8-24-default/kernel/drivers/net/wireless/ipw2100/ieee8 0211.ko): Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg) Unloaded all ieee modules...still didn't help. Can someone please help me? I have no idea what to do next?? Thanks!! Thom

What error message does ping give? And any clues in your /var/log/messages? - Jostein

Hi guys, here was my issue at first;
I tried connecting with my Compaq X1000 laptop to a wireless router
It's a centrino chipset
I set up the essid and crypt correctly...got a signal and was connected.
The wireless router issued me a ip address, iwconfig confirmed I had an address
I tried pinging my router...unreachable, checked route -n and noticed I didn't have a default gw. Added a default gateway hoping that would fix it..NOPE, no luck!

Unloaded all ieee modules...still didn't help.
Can someone please help me? I have no idea what to do next?? Thanks!!
