[opensuse] firefox profilemanager does not start
Hi, I run 11.0 32bit, with the latest Firefox (3.0.10). I tried to start from commandline the profile manager: $ firefox -ProfileManager This just immediately returns without starting firefox at all. I verified with ps aux that there is no other copy of FF running. I have found an old post here with no responses: http://forums.opensuse.org/network-internet/403948-firefox-profilemanager-do... Also, I found another post, which says that this is because of the way OpenSuse build of firefox is done: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1006995 So, any other searches did not produce sound solution. Can someone help on this? Is it a known problem, and I failed to find it? I just downgraded to 3.09. from the official opensuse repository, and the problem is still there. 3.0.10 was from the Mozilla build service repo. -- Svetoslav Milenov (Sunny) Even the most advanced equipment in the hands of the ignorant is just a pile of scrap. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I also deleted the default profile and the profile.ini (actually renamed them). After starting ff, it build a new default profile, but profilemanager still does not work. Also, I tried to call firefox -ProfileManager even before the "new" default" profile is build - still the same. I can confirm this problem on openSUSE 11.0 32bit, running firefox 3.0.9 from the official update channel. The problem is not present on 11.1 32bit. On 11.0 I just did firefox -profilemanager, got the profile manager, chose a profile, and 3.0.6 opened. Then I did yast2 sw_single, updated to the build service's 3.0.10, did firefox -profilemanager, chose a profile, and 3.0.10 opened. -- "A fool gives full vent to his anger, but a wise man keeps himself under control." Hallo, Sonny, Works For Me (tm), insofar as the Profile Manager opens, I select a profile, and then the browser opens using the selected profile (I only have one, though). $ rpm -q MozillaFirefox MozillaFirefox-3.0.9-0.1.1 However, after the browser opens, I get: $ firefox -ProfileManager *** nss-shared-helper: Shared database disabled (set NSS_USE_SHARED_DB to enable). Connection failure: Connection refused For giggles, I set the suggested environment var and tried again: $ NSS_USE_SHARED_DB=1 firefox -ProfileManager Connection failure: Connection refused Whatever. I don't use ProfileManager, so this is not a big issue for me. Kurt -- It is Mr. Mellon's credo that $200,000,000 can do no wrong. Our offense consists in doubting it. -- Justice Robert H.
