Please, may I run Kopete while using Gnome or must I switch to KDE? In any case, is it possible to have both desktop environments installed in the same box and choose between then on start up? Sorry if the question are quite basic. I've followed a number of threads about these issues but never get a clear idea. Thanks. Best, Ricardo -- Ricardo Rodríguez XEN, Resources Management

You can run most apps with either desktop. And yes, you can install both desktops and choose at login. In fact, you can even have both running at the same time, when you start another desktop.
