Was hopeing someone could help me with this problem. I got a new DiamondMax 56k PCI modem and it doesn't work with SuSE. My old PNP ISA modem works fine but this one doesn't.. Windows sees it just fine. (unfortunately, I'm using Windows right now to send mail due to Linux being down. :-( ) PLEASE HELP!!!!! I really don't know much about this modem Rick, but I sent their customer support a message asking them if it is a Winmodem or something normal that will work with another OS. Send me a reply via email and I'll let you know their reply as soon as I get one. To my knowledge, pci modems aren't supported in linux. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. You can try running pnpdump, but if that doesn't show your pci modem then you are probably s.o.l. RICK CHANDLER wrote:

I've been wanting to get my soundcard working, so I tried using the pnpdump command. It didn't find anything, so even if i were to go into windoze and write down all the settings and make/compile a new kernel, would it stand much of a chance of working? -- Aaron Seelye <A HREF="http://revolution.3-cities.com/~roberto"><A HREF="http://revolution.3-cities.com/~roberto</A">http://revolution.3-cities.com/~roberto -- To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e

I saw a patch for pci sound cards on efnet #linuxwarez a while ago, so there is some support for pci sound cards. I imagine there might be something on freshmeat or the oss website if you look. All sound cards will be pci soon anyway. Bye bye crappy isa bus. Aaron Seelye wrote:

I saw on sunsite howto's that the 2.1 kernel will have full pnp support. hopefully this new kernel will include pci sound (doesn't sound too unreasonable). Is there a site that shows the ETA for the new kernels or at least the current dev status? -- Aaron Seelye <A HREF="http://revolution.3-cities.com/~roberto"><A HREF="http://revolution.3-cities.com/~roberto</A">http://revolution.3-cities.com/~roberto -- To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e
