I've just installed suse ver 5.1 on a couple of machines and found some things I'd like to bring to your attention. 1) On one system I installed via NFS because there was no CDrom. The install script asks for the IP address of my DNS, I don't know why because it doesn't ask for any names, only IP address, but I supply it , however, it doesn't ask for the IP address of the system which has the CD, re-running the script THEN asks me for the IP of the system with CD and everything is cool. This is not a big deal but just in case you didn't know. 2) man tar doesn't work on both my systems. "No manual entry for tar" I wonder how many more don't work. 3) I tried to compile sniffit and I get "bash: configure: command not found" To work around this I have to put in the complete path of the configure script, even though my pwd is the dir where configure exists. The same goes when I try to run the binary from this dir, so I put the binary in a dir which is in my path, but why are things behaving this way? 4) I thought I'd find the newer mach64 X server and config program on release 5.1 but didn't, I downloaded them from your site again, but is it on one of the CD's? Let me say the .fvwm2 desktop is very nicely done. Coming from a slackware background this will take some time to get used to but once I do, I think I will like how you guys have done things. I was wondering if someone is maintaining a web page which lists all the typo's in the manual? There are a few which are not that obvious and will throw someone off. -- Lou A.
