[opensuse] HOWTO enable Thunderbird 'Reply to list' feature
Hi, After a recent thread, I decided that I really should install the ability to Reply-to-list feature in Thunderbird as I am subscribed to a number of mailing lists. While all but this list support the 'incorrect' method, and I am getting tired of the delete key and Reply-to-All, I thought that enhancing my Thunderbird would be a good idea. To my knowledge, Yast has updated the system as updates have become available from either the skynet.be or, the more recent addition of, mirrorservice in the UK mirrors. I am using OpenSUSE 10.2 and my Thunderbird version is version 1.5.0.12 (20060911). I have been to the Mozilla site and browsed the extensions but there are hundreds and did not find an item after scrolling through about 300 different items. Is there an opensuse mirror I can add that will allow me to update not only to a stable version 2 but if not at least to get the Reply-to-list functionality? Would adding this mirror enable me to use the Yast software installer search facility to locate, download and install via Yast? Learning all the time Hylton -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

http://alumnit.ca/wiki/attachments/replytolist-0.2.0.xpi I have been trying to get this extension to work for ages, but still no joy. The "Reply To List" entry appears in the menu and the toolbar button is accessible. Tried RTL for several different lists, but compose window fails to appear. SuSE 10.3, TB 2.0.0.6 (d/l from Mozilla), RTL 0.2.0, Mnenhy 0.7.5.666 Tried TB nightly with the same result. If it doesn't work with nightly, what are the chances of it it working with TB 3.0 ? Dave

If I remember rightly this needs a patch to work. The SuSE version of TB is patched already, dunno about Mozilla... I am still using 1.5 at moment... but as you are using beta OS as well there could be all sorts of reasons this is not happening for (and I do remember something about a problem with this on TB2... ) - -- ============================================================================== I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone. Tnx Dave and Billie for the file. It has been installed as an extension in Thunderbird 1.5. Restarted TB and chose to configure the toolbar. Saw the RTL and FWD Msg and so added them both to the toolbar. Restarted TB. RTL is greyed out when I am on a list ie opensuse or any one of the other lists I am on. Shall I raise a bug report and if so where bugzilla.mozilla.org ? Tnx for the help but this is an ongoing problem especially with many, many folks forgetting to Reply to All and deleting the original posters address, myself included sometimes. The button/menu entry does not become active until you switch "View -> Message Headers" to "Extended Normal View". Unfortunately, the extension doesn't work for me, but I hope it works for you. Dave

Dave's the man! :) Tnx Dave. Now I am one happy opensusian camper.

Maybe adding it as a bug somewhere ie mozilla, will get it looked at? The developers are going to have to do something especially as 10.3 is almost RC status. Cheers Hylton -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I installed the extention in version TB 2.0.0.4 (20070613) and had to drag the icon up to the toolbar. It is greyed out until I am actually reading a message that is from a mail list and then it is enabled and works fine. My suggestion is to upgrade to the version shown, install the two extensions, select customize the toolbar and drag the new icon to the toolbar and it should work fine. Hmmm. Mine is usually greyed out only when I'm on some lists. On Opensuse, and some others, it works like a charm with TB 1.5. I never have figured out just how it picks which to work on and which not to work on

Your making this WAY to hard. You say you already have mnenhy installed into Thunderbird. The next step is to download and use the same procedure to install the reply extension the same way. Close Thunderbird and reopen. Right click on the menu bar and click "Customize". Drag the Reply to List icon to the bar. Downloading the Reply-to extension is proving the problem as asides from what looks like a wiki page, I see no indication of the Reply-to extension on the page that GT gave me. I reinstalled mnenhy and right clicked on the menu after restarting Thunderbird twice, so that I could Customize the toolbar. There was no 'Reply-to-list option there ? But then again I would probably have had to successfully download the Reply-to extension first.
This isn't about installing anything into SuSE so Yast has nothing to do with it.
Aahh, thanks for that. Damn Windows mentality crept in again aka a single place to Add/RRemove programs. We are not adding 'software' to opensuse we are adding it to Thunderbird, therefore we use Thunderbird as the Add/Remove tool? I'm sorry I don't have the site saved. BUT, when I wanted to get it again the other day I just Googled for "reply-to-list" and it was the first thing listed.
