vnc seems like the next-best-thing {TM}, but I'd much rather run GNOME or KDE. Is there a way of using these environments rather than the default twm?
VNC is a Very Good Thing (tm), isn't it? Anyhow, you can change from the default twm by editing the ~/.vnc/xstartup file on the machine that is running vncserver.
Or can I exec xlogin via vnc?
Don't think so, but I'm not sure. Here's another thing you may want to look at - ssh makes the whole X remotely thing very much easier - I never had any repeatable success running x applications from one machine to another, until I ssh'ed from my laptop to my main workstation, typed in "nedit" and was off to the races.... -- "When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite." -- Winston Curchill, On formal declarations of war -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq
