Why Red Hat is better than SuSE:
1. The DHCP client works for persistant connections, like a cable modem. I've tried SuSE 5.3 and 6.0, and still can't get it to work.
Point taken. I hope this issue will be solved with the DHCP client in 6.1...
i use a cable modem with suse 6.0 the dhcp client installed and worked first time...at least i assume it did. my net connection is working fine .t *--------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | * origin: ...the vented spleen 613-544-9332 (1:249/139) | <A HREF="http://www.geocities.com/siliconvalley/grid/3355</A">http://www.geocities.com/siliconvalley/grid/3355</A> | 'you want a toe? Well, lucky you :) I received many reports, where the connection got lost after some time. In addition to that: You do not use a second ethernet interface, I assume? Has this been addressed in the latest release? The web page is kind of vague. I want to run dhcpcd on one NIC and a static IP on a second NIC. According to the maintainer of that package, this will be possible now. The DHCP client now only configures the first interface, all other will be left untouched.
