<snip> I would appreactie it if anyone who may have gotten this wireless card working would point me in the directions to do the same. It is detected in yast as being there but that is all. I am on a cable modem running throught a a Linksys 2.4 Ghz wireless router. I have reverted to a hard connection for the time till I can locat a good how-to. I know that some of these cards with 2.7 on them are not supported however this one is does not have this stmped on the card. </snip> Hello! I got a linksys wireless card going on 8.1 professional. In order to do this I found this link: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/history/33797 Look at the posts by wailinux and nita this worked like a charm for me, however from time to time I have to su to root and run ifdown eth1 and ifup eth1. HTH! I've seen the same happen when some prism2 cards use the orinoco/hermes driver in compat mode. Try uncommenting the appropriate entry for your card in /etc/pcmcia/wlan-ng.opts and that should allow it to use the prism2_cs driver. --Jerry -- "Memories by nature are unreliable, they'll degenerate and become fraudulent while they're inside people's minds." -- Gordon Rosewater (Big O / 'The Show Must Go On')
The website below deals with the linksys wpc 11 card. The card I am using is the WMP 11 v4 card. After contacting Linksys they informed me that they are working on a Linux driver now. They are in the testing phase currently. I'll likely try to get in on the test. I may proceed with the directions, but I'm afraid these chip sets are too different. I am going to install MDK 9.2 and see how it will treat it. I'm not counting on any other reaction that I am currently getting in Suse 9. My only other options are to find another card that can work or ( the most terrifying _) reinstalling winblows, or stringing a long cable thru the house. If any of you run across anything Please let me know. Thanks Regards, Steven On Monday 15 December 2003 11:00 am, Jerry A! wrote:
