For question #1. Try your modem manual. Or change your initilization code. In my Sportster modem, it is ATM0=speaker always off, ATM1=speaker on until Connect(what I use), M2=speaker always on, and M3=speaker on after dial, until Connect. I llike my modem to sound off at first, just to proves it works, then it goes silent. BTW way my modem is Hayes compatible, and these are their commands. Question #2: I will let the gurus answer, but you are on the right track, you just haven't read enuf yet! Santi wrote:
Two quick questions: 1) How can I make the modem not to make noise when it dials? I know, I should read the corresponding howto, but there is not a MODEM.HOWTO and there's no information about it in 'man chat' or 'man ppp'. I don't remember the comand in ATDTnumber for that. 2) How can I change the colors for the xterm (background, for instance). I use fvwm2, or, sometimes, KDE. In the .xinitrc I see color for the title, but no for all the windows background. I've not been able to find information about the options for xterm.
Thanks in advance.
