By default, port 113 -- which is required for ident/authentication purposes by some servers -- is merely closed, rather than fully stealthed, by SuSEFirewall2. Anyone know how to stealth it? Michael Alachouzos

if you use a DROP rule then your mail traffic will DELAY it is by default REJECT in SuSEFirewall as far as I remember which serves the purpose reject the request yet make sure mail is not delayed HTH -- Togan Muftuoglu Unofficial SuSE FAQ Maintainer http://dinamizm.ath.cx

Go into the /sbin/SuSEfirewall2 script, and search it for 113. You will see an explanation of why it's closed by default. To stealth it, just put comments on the 4 lines in that code block. -- $|=1;while(1){print pack("h*",'75861647f302d4560275f6272797f3');sleep(1); for(1..16){for(8,32,8,7){print chr($_);}select(undef,undef,undef,.05);}}
