[SLE] SCSI emulation for IDE-ATAPI CDWRITER
Hi everyone I have compiled the kernel for my Suse 6.3 and included the scsi emulation. I have now two folded question why my dmesg shows I have 8 scsci generics how do I make this device to point to a node lets say cdwriter? csi0 : SCSI host adapter emulation for IDE ATAPI devices scsi : 1 host. I don't know why it does it but you can fix it by either turning the option 'probe all luns on each scsi device' in the kernel configuration off or by using the kernel option 'max_scsi_luns=1' (see the lilo documentation on passing options to the kernel). Ok Now I have one scsi device for my cdwriter. How do I make this like /dev/cdwriter and /cdwriter ? -- Togan Muftuoglu toganm@yahoo.com __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Talk to your friends online with Yahoo! I think you'll need to recompile the kernel with the SCSI option for probing logical units turned off. My guess is that the emulation of the probe is what's making it appear that there are 8 units. Hi everyone, Now that I have solved the number of scsi devices and finally I have the device /dev/cdrom working I thought all my problems ended. Well looks like it has not. Now the problem is with YAST. when I want to add or remove packages via yast the error message is installation medium is not selected and what ever I do yast looks like it does not understand my scsi emulation for the cdwriter. Any ideas how to solve this ? thx -- Togan Muftuoglu toganm@yahoo.com __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Talk to your friends online with Yahoo!
