Ok before a system crash, i was able to write to this file system /windows/C/ so what do i do to make it writeable again ?? this is really annoying i did nothing to make it read only here's my /etc/fstab /dev/hda3 / reiserfs defaults 1 1 /dev/hda1 /windows/C vfat rw,users,gid=users,umask=0002,iocharset=iso8859-1,code=437 0 0
Check what 'mount' says: cer@nimrodel:~> mount /dev/hda1 on /windows/C type vfat (rw,noexec,nosuid,nodev,gid=0,umask=0002,iocharset=iso8859-1,code=437) Check the logs for errors (/var/log/boot.msg, /var/log/message, etc). The partition could have errors after the crash. Check device and directory permissions, like: cer@nimrodel:~> l /dev/hda1 brw-rw---- 1 root disk 3, 1 2002-09-09 22:24 /dev/hda1 cer@nimrodel:~> l /windows drwxrwxr-x 17 cer root 16384 1970-01-01 01:00 C/ Just some ideas :-) -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson
