Re: [opensuse] HP Printer C4380

I went with their hp-lip, and it put the printer drivers (on my 10.1 install) in a non-standard place. Hopefully you are fully up and flying with your all-in-one. One question, what happens when you press the scan button on the unit? The version that I have (stock 10.2 install) ignores it, and I'm sorta hoping that you can now have it launch your scanner software of choice.

Yes all is working here now with my C4380. If I press the scan in the HPLIP window, XSANE starts up, and then I press the SCAN button in XSANE, whereafter the scan itself starts, and at the end of the scan, the scanned document is shown in XSANE. (...) just for the record, I have an HP printer all in one *not* network capable connected to a very simple netserver (my adsl box from "free" the french ISP). I can print on it from any 10.3 computer without problem, bt hp-tools don't find it. I stopped trying to fix this when I notced that this printer have card slots and allow *scanning to card*. When scanning it writes a jpeg directly on any supported card (for me sd card). Given the scanner/printer is on an other floor, it's much simpler to scan to card than to put the document, scan from the computer and go back take the document :-)) just this capability was not written on the box and I got on it by chance :-)) jdd -- http://www.dodin.net -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
