First thing I would do is run wvdial in a window and watch the message print out to make sure that it really is running. Try that and, if it isn't connecting, let me know what it says.

(1) Wvdial connects and starts pppd. I wait and nothing seems to happen. What am I supposed to do to be able to browse internet?

(2) Wvdial is launched in the background. Lynx cannot open any website.
