[opensuse] libreoffice - best source?

In response to my earlier thread about downloading the help files for LO, I thought I would ask around here on this one to get opinions from people with experience. It seems that there are 3 strong options to choose from when it comes to LibreOffice. 1 - the standard repositories, OSS and update 2 - the LibreOffice repository at download.opensuse.org - http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/LibreOffice:/5.2/ 3 - the LibreOffice web site - http://www.libreoffice.org/download/download/ So, in anyone's opinion, what is the best? I tend to use only the standard repositories, but the issue with the help file no longer being included has made me re-think what I want to do. The only other really *significant* problem I have had with LO is that if I create a spreadsheet, and it gets only a little bit large, like just barely extending the visible view, something happens in the program that starts to make the response time slow down significantly. For this reason, if I am doing anything of substance in a spreadsheet, I have switched back to using Excel through wine or virtualbox. I don't think that is an issue of which source it comes from, because I tried different versions, and the slowness was unchanged. But besides that, any opinions on which is the best LO source to use? I would welcome anyone's thoughts here. -- George Box: 42.2 | KDE Plasma 5.8 | AMD Phenom IIX4 | 64 | 32GB Laptop #1: 42.2 | KDE Plasma 5.8 | Core i7-4710HQ | 64 | 16GB Laptop #2: 42.2 | KDE Plasma 5.8 | Core i5 | 64 | 8GB -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Slowness? Is it 42.2? Yes, it must be, you mentioned the help problem was on 42.2. Well, yes, I have noticed slowness in 42.2, but it is related to swap. Something changed, compared to 13.1. Big applications, such as thunderbird, firefox and LO are affected. I notice when I change workspace, a delay on redraw. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. Sorry, can't help you ... or, maybe I can. I use Apache's OpenOffice, working like a charm. Removed LibreOffice. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

ok, I'm interested. What influenced you to make the switch, and what do you like about OpenOffice that you feel is better than LibreOffice? -- George Box: 42.2 | KDE Plasma 5.8 | AMD Phenom IIX4 | 64 | 32GB Laptop #1: 42.2 | KDE Plasma 5.8 | Core i7-4710HQ | 64 | 16GB Laptop #2: 42.2 | KDE Plasma 5.8 | Core i5 | 64 | 8GB -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Yea, me too. Since virtually all the OO developers have jumped ship to work on LO this seems like an out of the frying pan into the fire sort of jump. Literally everybody is moving the opposite direction. -- After all is said and done, more is said than done. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

No reason why you can't have both. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
