Why does my pop mail alway loose tract of the last message and download all the files from /var/spool/mail/user . I never had this problem with qpopper and other clients, but evolution is constantly downloading duplicate messages. I have 10 of all the oldest messages.

The way that pop3 sessions work is that the server does not mark the messages as 'read' until a successfull completion of the entire session. Duplicates are typically caused by sessions that terminate prematurely, so you should look for clues in your log files for the cause. Could be a dropped connection or timeouts, the logs should be helpful in identifying the problem.
