[opensuse] making krdc behave like "screen" (attach/detach)?
I use krdc in opensuse 10.3 to connect to remote machines. I'd like to detach a krdc session and reattach to it from another computer just like I can do with /usr/bin/screen. How can I do this? Thanks in advance. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

What type of remote machines (OS)? Cheers -- Svetoslav Milenov (Sunny) Even the most advanced equipment in the hands of the ignorant is just a pile of scrap. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

opensuse 10.3 also.
I'm not sure if with krfb/krdc you can do this. You can attach to an existing session though. For what you want, to actually open a remote sesson, then close the connection, and later to reconnect, you can use nxserver (there is free version, but closed source: http://www.nomachine.com/), or GPLed version freenx (http://freenx.berlios.de/). There are freenx (server and client) packages in opensuse 10.3 repositories. There are also wiki pages: for NX: http://en.opensuse.org/Remote_Access_to_SUSE#Nx for freenx: http://en.opensuse.org/FreeNX_Server_HOWTO Cheers -- Svetoslav Milenov (Sunny) Even the most advanced equipment in the hands of the ignorant is just a pile of scrap. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

You do not "need" nx server just to get that. You can connect/disconnect/reconnect to vnc just fine. You simply have to configure vncserver/xinitrc/xinetd to do so. It's merely the default that vncserver closes the window manager and x server on disconnect, not inherent immuatble behavior. I can't imagine krfb is so different underneath. -- Brian K.
