Hi, I am interested in buying a laptop to install SuSE Linux onto it. I have been looking for an HP Omnibook XE2 to do the job. The questions is: Is anybody working with this notebook with the SuSE/Linux distro? I've read the sound card is a "Maestro 3" and no drivers are available. Is this true? "X" can be configured via XFree 3.3.6 so that should not be a problem. Is the modem a win-modem? Also, if you do not have this kind of laptop, can you recommend the one you are using with SuSE?? TIA. --- mailto: aguavaca@linuxfan.com SuSE GNU/Linux ICQ #5580328 --- -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq

There is a support page for Linux on HP products at http://www.hp-linux.org -- Bob Rea Freedom is only privilege extended unless enjoyed by one and all --Billy Bragg rear@sirius.com rrea@askjeeves.com http://www.sirius.com/~rear -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq
hi, here's a couple urls that you may want to check to help answer some of your laptop concerns: Linux with LAptop Computers - LiLAC http://home.snafu.de/wehe/ Linux Laptops and Notebooks http://www.tuxtops.com/ the only problem I had with my laptop was the PCMCIA Winmodem, there is very little support out there for Winmodems. I solved my problem by buying a new PCMCIA modem that is supported by Linux : http://home.snafu.de/wehe/pcmcia_linux.html I have a Dell Inspiron 3700 and SuSE is running great on it. I do strongly recommend Dell's Inspiron series. Great machines, great support, and Dell has begun shipping / supporting Linux on their machines. hope this is of some help good luck, jason aguavaca@linuxfan.com wrote:
