[opensuse] Upgrading Python in v11,4
![](https://seccdn.libravatar.org/avatar/ea4cbc769ddf3ba4583b050a65c59a5a.jpg?s=120&d=mm&r=g)
What my system has is Python v2.7, which it got from the DVD original installation. I found what I take to be the right repo to update from: <http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/devel:/languages:/python/openSUSE_11.4/x86_64/> and tried to add it to the repos in YaST. The retort from YaST is: ***** Unable to create repository from URL 'http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/devel:/languages:/python/openSUSE_...' ***** Why? -- Stan Goodman Qiryat Tiv'on Israel -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Omit the x86_64 directory from the URL. (using http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/devel:/languages:/python/openSUSE_... ) Ciao, Marcus -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

OK. Thanks. But that's counter-intuitive. Why won't that confuse the matter of architrcture? The x86_64 is part of the URL. -- Stan Goodman Qiryat Tiv'on Israel -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

But that's counter-intuitive. Why won't that confuse the matter of architrcture? The x86_64 is part of the URL. Hi Because the repo data is one level up, plus what about all the noarch rpms... the system is intelligent enough to know the arch to install (which python mostly is...).

Because the repo data is in the base directory and zypper/libzypp will decide on the arch to use at install time and thus use the appropriate directory. Philipp -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
