[SuSE Linux] PPP + LAN connection
<PRE> I'm trying to set up a PPP connection in order to connect to a time-server outside our Firewall. I can use kppp to successfully connect to my ISP, but this is what I see in /var/log/messages... Dec 22 14:15:28 publisher pppd[3588]: pppd 2.2.0 started by root, uid 0 Dec 22 14:15:28 publisher pppd[3588]: Using interface ppp0 Dec 22 14:15:28 publisher pppd[3588]: Connect: ppp0 <--> /dev/modem Dec 22 14:15:31 publisher pppd[3588]: local IP address 196.34.156.71 Dec 22 14:15:31 publisher pppd[3588]: remote IP address 168.209.6.66 Dec 22 14:15:54 publisher kernel: lp: Driver configured but no interfaces found. Dec 22 14:17:00 publisher kernel: lp: Driver configured but no interfaces found. This is the output from route - >before< I attempt a PPP connection: Kernel IP routing table Destination Gateway Genmask Flags Metric Ref Use Iface publisher.sabc. * 255.255.255.255 UH 0 0 0 dummy0 155.234.16.0 * 255.255.248.0 U 0 0 9 eth0 loopback * 255.0.0.0 U 0 0 0 lo default RP2038.sabc.co. 0.0.0.0 UG 0 0 20 eth0 and >after< I dial in to my ISP: Kernel IP routing table Destination Gateway Genmask Flags Metric Ref Use Iface publisher.sabc. * 255.255.255.255 UH 0 0 0 dummy0 It would seem I need to do something about the routing... Should I be using IP masquarading? (I only want to connect from this one PC) How should the routing be set up? I'd be very grateful for any help!
