[opensuse] Re: questions related to KDE4 in opensuse 11.1

Keep in mind that KDE != SuSE. When I had problems with an 11.1 desktop machine running KDE 4.2, I changed to Gnome to see if that would make a difference. Indeed, it did, and I was able to do everything I needed to do.
problem is kde4 is the first choice in openSUSE 11.1 config, kde 3.5 is hidden under the "other" menu. that said, Mandriva have kde4 (and is only available on live cd with it). Seems more stable than suse one, but I didn't have time to check really. also several apps are now kde4 mostly and don't backport to kde3. The real mess is kde team didn't discuss changes with the users before doing them. jdd -- http://www.dodin.net http://valerie.dodin.org http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t-eic8MSSfM http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1412160445 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

They did, there is a fortnightly public meeting, which is announced on the mailinglist and on the wiki. I won't comment on the other points since those have been discussed already more than once. The real problem is that developers and users don't speak the same language ;-) How you can discuss changes with people not involved in development, ie. don't see problems, don't understand what is the problem even when it is explained, because even explanation is far from common language, and that is the case very often when expert has to explain something. It is necessary to have midleman that understand limitations of both sides to make communication possible. -- Regards, Rajko -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
