Do all of these end up as USB on your machine?
None do. Some are on ICH7, others SiI3114. Current target is latter, lspci 03:05.0. Current source looks like ICH7 00:1f.1, lsscsi command not found.
Have you checked the result of running "hdparm" on the devices concerned. e.g. "hdparm -t /dev/sda"?
??? sda is the source. Is that what you intended? Only on first use last month (not noted at the time, but probably on 13.1): # hdparm -T /dev/sdb: Timing cached reads: 1802 MB in 2.00 seconds = 900.52 MB/sec # hdparm -t /dev/sdb: Timing buffered disk reads: 320 MB in 3.01 seconds = 106.29 MB/sec These are from the source 11 months ago on openSUSE 13.1: # hdparm -T /dev/sdb: Timing cached reads: 3828 MB in 2.00 seconds = 1913.96 MB/sec # hdparm -t /dev/sdb: Timing buffered disk reads: 334 MB in 3.01 seconds = 110.95 MB/sec Current will need to wait until the current clone process completes. ETA is still 04:30:##.
Years ago I often used hdparm to set disk i/o parameters and chipset configuration manually leading to and an improvement in throughput. -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive." Proverbs 16:21 (New Living Translation)
