[SLE] How to verify successful online update?
I just did a fresh install of 10.0 followed by a HUGE Online Update that had been running over an hour (even with broadband). At some point during the online update I had a power outage. I wasn't watching the computer at the time, but I don't believe it had finished updating when the power cut out. (It probably did finish the downloads.) Online Update now shows next to nothing to update -- just a handful of optional things that don't apply to this system. How does the system keep a list of things successfully updated? If so, where? -- Check the headers for your unsubscription address For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the archives at http://lists.suse.com Please read the FAQs: suse-linux-e-faq@suse.com

Hi Ken,
Look under /var/lib/YaST2/you
regards,
Carl
I looked under that directory on my 10.1 machine and there were absolutely no files under any directory. It almost looks like this directory is no longer used in 10.1. That's correct. The OP was asking about 10.0 Carl -- Check the headers for your unsubscription address For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the archives at http://lists.suse.com Please read the FAQs: suse-linux-e-faq@suse.com

Probably a better question to ask: Where does Yast keep track of things that were NOT updated correctly. Anyway, I deleted everything I found in the above named directory and ran Online Update again. Everything was available to install again. It all downloaded and installed (apparently) fine. So, life is good again. Thanks. -- Check the headers for your unsubscription address For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the archives at http://lists.suse.com Please read the FAQs: suse-linux-e-faq@suse.com

By keeping track of the installed RPMs. So it will redo the parts it did not finish. Try: rpm -qa --last | less All installed packages, newest at the top. -- Steve Boddy -- Check the headers for your unsubscription address For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the archives at http://lists.suse.com Please read the FAQs: suse-linux-e-faq@suse.com
