I presume that you are referering to that note below
---
NOTE: There is no need to try to enable 3D support.
It's already
enabled, when the nvidia driver is running.
---
but Ok... there is a game that comes with KDE, not
sure of the name sine I'm not at home now, that
complain unable to run since it require 3D to be
enable..
Good if you where able to install your sys.. with no
problem simply using sax command and test that 3D was
enable...
I'll try some more...
Thnks for your reply...

Please, check in your X config file. There should be a Section "Device" and an entry: Driver "nv" or Driver "nvidia" If it is nv, change it to nvidia. If it is nvidia, it should work that way. I have no 9.2 at hand, but I remember, that just using YaST/Hardware/Graphic card and monitor displayed 3d Enabled for my friend's installation. If it is set to "nvidia" driver, and it is still not displaying that 3D is enabled, please take a look in your X log file for a line like: LoadModule: "nvidia" and also: NVIDIA(0): NVIDIA 3D Acceleration Architecture Initialized If you miss such a lines, this means your driver is not correctly installed/configured. run from the command-line: glxgears if successful, 3d is working -- Patrick Shanahan Registered Linux User #207535 http://wahoo.no-ip.org @ http://counter.li.org HOG # US1244711 Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/photos
If we are talking about hardware accelerated 3d support, glxgears simply running isn't good enough as it will still work with software rendering via mesa lib. Of course if you getting 1k+ frames / second, this is a good indicator that hardware acceleration is enabled as you would have to have quite the monster machine to get that frame rate from software rendering. The best thing to check (for nVidia anyway) is to check /proc/driver/nvidia/agp/status for Status: Enabled B-) On Monday 17 January 2005 03:25 pm, Patrick Shanahan wrote:

I got it to it to work.. for some reason after
recompiling the drivers sax2 could not load the nvidia
modules.. only after loading it manually with modprobe
that I was able to configure X with the command sax2
-m 0=nvidia ..
Thanks to all who reply..

Probably would work but I prefer strikly using the SuSE supplied kernels. By the way, 9.1 on proliant ML330 (zeon processor). -- Ken Schneider UNIX since 1989 SuSE since 1998 * Only reply to the list please*
In my experience it depends on what you are logged in as when you install. Try reinstalling (if you don't know how to do that just post again to ask) when logged in as root and not as superuser under your normal login - very important!!! With any luck 3D is enabled automatically - you can tell by the NVidia screen. If not, enable manually under Sax. Let us know how it goes Ingo Ephlodur wrote:
