I deleted kde1 and kdm is not longer a login option using yast1. The only possible option is using xdm. I don't know why.
I have SuSE 7.0, XFree 4.0.1 and kde 2.0

That was pretty brave of you. Do you really think KDE2 is ready to REPLACE kde1? Anyway I'm not sure about 7.0 but you could try reinstalling KDE2. The deinstall of KDE1 may have removed some important config stuff if you used Yast. Did ya use yast to delete kde1? It may have been better to just "rm -r /opt/kde". I'm not sure if SuSe has set up their KDE2 config stuff as nice as they have for KDE1 yet so I don't know how easy it will be to run only KDE2. May you'll get more help from others that have done it. Personally I'd keep kde1 installed and just play with KDE2 untill it's a little more mature. <p> -- Mark Hounschell dmarkh@cfl.rr.com

I agree. This enthusiasm to just delete KDE1 is a little naive. Firstly KDE2 does not plug in and replace KDE1 as it is not yet configured properly bu SuSE to do so. Witness all the questions in this list about KDM. Secondly KDE2 is at version 0, with all that that implies. Newbies note! Oldies are always cautious of software at version 0 ! Thirdly KDE2 does not replace all of the KDE1 apps, do an app find or whatever it is called in the kde options and you will see all those old kde1 apps that have not yet been replaced.
Hold onto kde1 for a while friends.

True, QCad, for example, looses its fonts under KDE2 and the button, menus, labels, and any other place where you'd expect text to be, are blank!

And then, as root, use 'rpm --rebuilddb" to rebuild your rpm database
