Hi, I've been searching forever for the perfect linux email client, and I've found it with Kmail 1.3.1. It's the only Linux client I know that supports IMAP and PGP well. Anyway, I don't use KDE and every once and a while I watch my cpu meter in Enlightenment shoot up and when I look it is 'kdeinit' that is running away . . . caused by kmail being run for sure. The question is, is it okay to run kmail outside of KDE? I thought so, but perhaps I am wrong . . . With only Kmail running a quick 'ps -ef | grep kde' has the following output: ===== nickw 17350 1 0 19:23 ? 00:00:00 kdesud nickw 19346 1 0 20:13 ? 00:00:00 kdeinit: dcopserver --nosid --suicide nickw 19349 1 0 20:13 ? 00:00:00 kdeinit: klauncher nickw 19351 1 0 20:13 ? 00:00:00 kdeinit: kded nickw 19354 1 0 20:13 ? 00:00:00 kdeinit: Running... nickw 19421 19354 0 20:22 ? 00:00:00 kdeinit: kio_imap4 imap /tmp/ksocket-nickw/klauncherHiQg8b.slave-socket /tmp/ksocket-nickw/kmailzMRhFb.slave-socket ===== So I know it's running more than one program. When I exit kmail, however, the same processes appear to be running . . .
