Hi, i have an external ISDN card, (Eumex 302 PC from TELEKOM). I can't get it setup up so suse recongizes it. Please help. Dark_Hour - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e
I have a 3Com Impact IQ external so the commands are probably incompatable, but you basically treat the 3Com as a modem using the AT command set. Just make sure you also have the 1B and 2B commands ready and edit them into your dialing string. You may also have to put the TA into PPP mode (my 3Com needed S71=1 before I could connect via PPP to my isp). Now the DOWN side of having an external TA: The standard 16550 UART only supports a max baud of 115200. Unless you get an accelerated card or even better either a 16650 or 16750 card you're stuck with a BIT lower performance than you are paying for... If you get a less expensive accelerated (overclocked) 16550 card you'll need to edit serial.c in the kernel to reflect the new card's clock speed. The current kernel, though I didn't see it in the docs, it's in serial.c supports faster 16550 cards and 16650 cards. The 2.1 series kernels are supposed to also support 16750 cards, according to their serial.c... Your register settings and mileage may vary though... Good luck!
