Recently my SuSE 8.0 server (mainly mail/web) had a nasty lock up (that I have not been able to track down a reason for). Following the inevitable reboot several partitions became inaccessible (including /). Booting from CD in rescue mode allowed me to see that the partition table seemed intact, but I couldn't mount any of the partitions on the drive. Severl ustilites and explorations later I find errors pertaining to 'reiserfs super block missing/unreadable' and some appropriate interrupt/timeout errors being generated from the IDE processes. I've tried every utility I can think of to attempt to diagnose/repair or attempt to recover data from the partitions. Surely this is possible? I mean, in theory even with the file tables lost, its plausible to reconstruct this? And yeah, I've tried every utility I can fathom - even going back to old versions of Norton Disk Doctor, and upto Acronis Recovery Expert (a Windows tool tht allegedly can recover lost/deleted resierfs partitions). Also have looked at some Windows based 'read reiserfs' tools. Tried linux fdisk and a little bit of parted and so on. I'm now at a loss... Surely someone out there has an idea? ;) Thanks guys. Matt
