I've been trying to find some reviews of 7.2. google search reveals nothing, and portal.suse.de has nothing either (odd, since it's been out in Germany for a week) Has anyone seen anything? Regards Anders -- Suche Nullen! Götzen-Dämmerung - oder wie man mit dem Pingvin philosophirt

If it has, I haven't seen it. And believe me, I've been looking. The stores that usually carry it still have 7.1 on the shelf. Mike -- Powered by SuSE 7.1, Kernel 2.4.4 KDE2.1.1 For a great linux portal try http://www.freezer-burn.org

HI all...... The major question here is: Is there enough diffence between 7.1 and 7.2 to make it worth my time to bug someone to make me a copy of it? <G> TIA! -- Jim Hatridge Proud Linux User #88484 Owner -- beowulf-newbie list I didn't vote for his daddy either! I think a lot of people are asking the same question (I, of course, buy it regardless - insert picture of jackass here :) Mandrake 8.0 was reviewed in LinuxJournal even before it was released (OK it suffered because of pre-release bugs, but all publicity is good publicity) Regards Anders On Monday 18 June 2001 19:48, James "Jim" Hatridge wrote:

LJ sucks, have you seen the "Best of Tech support"? Someone asked what the command to remove an RPM package was, and this is the answer they published: "rpm -qa package name" Great, lets query it... There were others to, but I cannot remember them. Matt -- "The only thing complex about Linux are the users themselves." On Mon, 18 Jun 2001, Anders Johansson wrote:

Well, I buy it for the articles :) Seriously, it is one of the places where newbies go to find info about which dist to choose: reviews are powerful. 7.1 got a very good write-up in LJ, but IMHO faaaaar too late (can't remember exact dates, but it was long after it was out). And Mandrake got blasted :-) (cannot remember which version though). Got a really bad review. I was just shocked at the low quality of the tech place, another area newbies go in the current issue. -- "The only thing complex about Linux are the users themselves." Hi Matt et al... Ok, LJ is not the best. What would you suggest to take it's place? For me, LJ costs 62$ per year mailed to Germany. I sure would like to cut this down some. Is there a cheaper / better magazine? What about in England? Later! -- Jim Hatridge Proud Linux User #88484 Owner -- beowulf-newbie list I didn't vote for his daddy either! Do you know how much a subscription to them costs? Also if you were to be able to get only one, which one would you prefer?

£44.91 UK price, £73.88 for the rest of the world for Linux Magazine. For LF it's £49.90 for the UK and £75.53 for Europe and the States. So, not cheap. But, neither is LJ cheap in the UK :)) All of the stuff that I do is written in plain old fashioned British English :) Thanks -- Richard
