Re: [SLE] System down, not powering up.
Sigh. This is a hardware problem not a SUSE PROBLEM. In the future, type of motherboard type of power supply is needed if you want answers. You are using one of the newer motherboards that are always on and respond to a reset switch. Try this: 1. Disconnect your power cable and let it sit for an extended period of time. Reconnect and see if it will respond. 2. if you have the monitor led on inside awhile plugged in, you have juice inside. Consider the power supply faulty, the backup ram has funky data, etc. 3. Did the mobo come with a manual? Adam -----Original Message----- From: Matt <startux@linuxsimulations.org> Subj: [SLE] System down, not powering up. Date: Tue Sep 27, 2005 1:33 am Size: 953 bytes To: suse-linux-e@suse.com Lucky in having a backup PC :) My main has all the music though, and has been running SuSE 9.3 successfully, then one day last week I found the system off, and it would not switch on again (unplugged re-plugged, changed power cord, tried different power supply), still no power. I got a new motherboard, much better one than I had before and I notice a red led light come on when I have the power cord attached and the switch on. Pressing the button on the case results in no power, and I have gone over the reset, power etc switches to no avail. I am guessing the following: CPU died, but not sure if I'd get beeps (its an AMD 2800+). Case switch has malfunctioned. Just wanted to run it by everyone.
